On April 3, the 1st weekend after the anniversary of the lockdown in 2020, The People’s Assembly will organise a series of motor convoys in as many of the town/city centres as we can mount a serious presence.

Over the past year 120,000 people have lost their lives. Many more have contracted the infection and the spread

of ‘Long Covid’ reaches all age groups. In addition, 1.4 million have newly registered as unemployed in less than a year, led by young people. Millions more have had their hours and pay cut, with the heaviest burden falling on women. And Black and Asian people have been 26 times more likely to be made unemployed. There has been a truly shocking attack on the elderly and disabled people throughout the whole crisis, with a huge loss of life in care homes.

Please join your local cavalcade protest with flags waving and horns blaring!

This form of protest remains socially-distanced and risk assessments will be carried out.

See you on 3 April!

The People’s Cavalcade or car protest (bikes welcome too!).

Manchester leg of a national cavalcade

Saturday 3rd April.

Assembling at Parrs Wood 2pm Entertainment Centre car park. Finishing at Go North West Buses, Queens Road, Cheetham Hill.

We will have a short rally in solidarity and support of Go North West Bus workers on strike there. These drivers are under threat of fire and rehire if they do not accept inferior pay, terms and conditions. They need our support.

(Route will be added ASAP).

The legal restriction on people only going out when needed will be removed by the government on 29/3/21. So this will not be an issue for this Cavalcade. We have also undertaken a full risk assessment.

Come and join us at our People’s Cavalcade (or car convoy) to protest against all the horrors inflicted on us through 11 years of the Tory rule. They have had a devastating impact on many aspects of our lives (jobs, pay, lives, workplaces, public services, NHS, housing, education, environmental, benefits and much more).

This has continued during the Covid pandemic where we’ve seen the Tories pursue a catastrophic herd immunity programme causing thousands of excess deaths. Additionally, we’ve seen them illegally give billions of pounds worth of contracts to Tory donors.

We must RESIST all this and we want to do this (loudly) at the cavalcade whilst demanding the better fairer world we all deserve.

So join us on 3rd April and let’s make our car protest big, bold and noisy. We will have flags and music but come and bring your own, too! Maybe put tin can on your car, bring whistles, hoot your horn.

Due to Covid, it’s been decided nationally that a car convoy would be a safer form of protesting (for now). We know it’s not ideal or eco friendly but it’s what we can do for now. If you prefer to cycle, you could join us for part or all of the way.

Unison and Mcr Trades Council are supporting the Cavalcade, so far.

So to all unions and campaigns, can we add your support to our publicity? It would also be great if you could promote this protest to your supporters/members).

Please email us on: for more info or to let us know you’re joining us.
