Austerity is a Political Choice: Tax the Rich - Mass Lobby of Labour Conference

Sunday 22nd September – ACC Liverpool, Kings Dock, Liverpool L3 4FP (gather near the Wheel of Liverpool) at 12.00

We are protesting outside Labour conference on Sunday 22nd September, beginning at 12 noon. After a series of decisions that will exacerbate poverty and continue the damaging austerity that we’ve seen under 14 years of the Tories, we will be telling the Labour government loud and clear:

No to Cuts!

No to Privatisation!

No to Racism!

Fund Our Services & Communities to Rebuild Broken Britain.

Please join us, get dressed up in rags, bring bowls and spoons and be ready to make some noise. We will be joined by ‘Sir Kid Starver’ and ‘Rachel Thieves’, as they tell us to tighten our belts and prepare for painful times, take the winter fuel payments of pensioners and continue Tory policies such as the two child benefit cap – all while the fat cats and military do very nicely indeed.

Austerity is a Political Choice! No Cuts! Restore our Services! Tax the Rich!

Music, speakers and more…

The Big Christmas FoodBank Fundraiser

A decade of Tory austerity has devastated our country and the consequences for the poorest in society have been horrific. Since the Tories took over this country, food bank usage has skyrocketed. In 2010, the Trussell Trust reported that around 60,000 people in the UK had to use foodbanks. By 2019, this had shot up to an astonishing 1.9 million.

Rishi Sunak, in his spending review, casually announced that unemployment is predicted to rise to 7.5% as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. This means even more families will be plunged into debt and poverty in the coming months.

We want to ensure that everything possible is done to ease the burden that families are facing this Christmas. We can make a huge impact to ensure that children will not be hungry and where their parents are struggling, they will at least be able to enjoy opening a present.

That is why we are launching The People’s Assembly Big Christmas Foodbank Fundraiser.  Please give as much as you can afford to ensure that we can have the maximum impact in helping make this Christmas a special time for as many people as possible this year.

Alternatively, you can set up a standing order directly into our bank account. Click here to find out how
